However, keep in mind that there is added advantages in some situations to having the big stack. Being the big stack allows you to race in situations where your tournament life is not at stake where others are. So sometimes when you are hitting as the big stack it looks like you superbly lucky.
Brunson said once in his comment that the reason people view him as "lucky" is the way that he takes these huge pots down. It worked then and would still work now.
He picks up baby pots 1,2,3,4,5 on and on, over and over. Until he has a big stack. Then he races all ins with his built stack, and when he loses it's a freeroll for him. If he wins, then he just keeps it up. That is the culmination of the Doyle Brunson strategy in general.
Its always worked the same way, and most likely always will.
