HSP 6....SPOILER

Postby on tilt » Mon Feb 15, 2010 9:05 am

I watched last night. They didn't show the epic Durrr vs. Ivey hand that I keep hearing about. unless it was the one hand I missed when I left the room during a commercial break. Can't imagine it would have been over that quick.

a couple of thoughts.

I like that they allow the big buy ins. Durrr and Ivey bought in for $500k, the rest of the table bought in for $200k.

I don't feel bad for him just becuase of the way he behaves (act or not), but Hellmuth had a very quick and rough go last night.

I know they edit it down, but Ivey was on a heater last night. Seems like he makes every hand he plays. I think he finished up around $330k by the end of last night's show.

I sometimes wonder about Esfandiari. He was one of original big names when the poker boom happened. Sometimes I wonder if it's kinda passed him by, but he still participates based on notoriety alone. That's probably dumb.

They have always allowed for the big buy-in. Daniel used to buyin for a million in the early seasons.

There was no epic Durrr/Ivey hand, you didn't miss anything.

Hellmuth had some really bad luck, 2nd nuts...twice. He actually took the beats like a normal pro, which I thought was odd and not very Helmuthian.

Esfandiari is pretty good IMO, he is a "feel" player and doesn't play like the current crop of "young pros" thats for sure. I know he has at least one braclet.

I like poker.

episode 2.

Still no epic hand between Ivey and Durr.

I know Ivey is good, but I'm amazed at how much respect he gets. Even from these guys.

Yeh, ep 2 was rather uneventful. I just finished watching a really old PAD Cash Game with Ivey, Durrr, Lederer, Antonius, Sahmies, Elezra...and while he was the biggest winner, he was getting pushed off many hands by Sahamies super aggressive play and Ivey laid down the winner several times.

Last nights episode was mostly uneventful.

They were hyping next weeks episode though. They said next week has the big hand between Ivey and Durr and that at least 4 people get felted. Set your DVR's. should be fun.

I thought Ivey agreeing to the million dollar be a vegetarian bet with Dwan for 1 year was interesting.

Watching Daniel play is getting more and more uncomfortable. It just feels like he is waiting to lose everytime he gets into a hand with someone. Weird.

I hope the casual poker player watches this show, the hands that some of them are playing with a lot of frequency isn't even in my playbook unless I am loaded and/or playing for pennies.

Yeh, 4 people getting felted sounded more interesting than the Ivery/Durrr hand. Speaking of the big hand, who you rooting for on the hand?

In the interview, he said he had been toying with the idea anyway.

Pretty much the case for these guys, isn't it? Except for the one new kid. He's in over his head. I think it was obvious to everyone the moment he asked about the antes.

My default answer is Ivey. I've come around on Durr though. My opinion of him changed almost 180 degrees last year after I got to see him play a lot more. He seems to run good alot, but most of the time he just flat out outplays everyone.

the big hand happened last night. not quite as "epic" as I was lead to believe. but definitely a big hand.

Probably dumb to second guess Ivey, but I though he could have played the hand better.

Durr is good. but it helps when you constantly catch what you're drawing for.

Tonights episode was kinda slow. There was one "big" hand. I can't really say anymore without giving it away.

This season has mostly sucked. I like it better than watching tournament pokwer, but compared to seasons past...meh.

One interesting caveat is watching Daniel Negreneanu play much more aggressively than he has typically played in the past. I dunno if its because he is stuck a few hundred grand or he is just trying to change gears?

Also noteworthy, Dwan is playing supertight compared to what I have become acustomed with his play.

Interesting side discussion they had in this last show, Dwan and others want to ban sunglasses from being worn at the table, while some others also want to ban headphones.

Ivey bought out of his vegetarian bet with Dwan for $150K.
