I won a seat this weekend, and they gave me Sunday, August 17th. I don't want to play on this day - I would prefer Wednesday or Thursday.
Does anyone here (grunkzzz, DavidN, etc.) have a chip for a different day that you are willing to trade for my Sunday chip? |

It wasn't bad, especially when you consider the venue. 5k chips, 30-minute levels. The only bad step in the structure is when it goes from Level 4 100-200 (cost per round=300) to Level 5 200-400-25 (cost per round=850). The rest of the structure was reasonable.
As usual they are a little disorganized, and at this point I don't think it's fair to say that they are still "learning". Lots of "procedures" in place for registration, but no one seems to know why they are doing the things they do.
The tournament clock died when we were down to around four tables (never to be resurrected), and the power flickered a lot and went out completely for about 15 seconds at one point during the final table.
At one point as we approached the bubble (55 players got a chip on Sunday), half of the tables were playing hand-for-hand, and the other half weren't. There were six tables (two rows of three tables, both rows right next to each other), so it should have been easy for the TD's to have a firm grasp on six tables, but they allowed players to get up and mill around and watch the all-ins on other tables, so it was mass confusion. They need to insist that players stay in their seats close to the bubble to avoid the confusion.
Winstar adds $20k cash for the final table, so there is some nice overlay. I came in 8th for $800. Basically, they are losing money on the satellites in order to fill the main event. There were around 288-289 players on Sunday, so they took in about $11,500 in entry fees and paid out $20,000.
Basically, it wasn't your typical "all-in fest" - even at the final table, most stacks were big enough to fold to a reraise, which is unusual. All in all, they are doing a pretty good job, and there is a lot of value in the satellite. I bought in directly to the Mega ($400+40), but I talked to several people that said that the $55 and $110 SNG's are an easy route to get in.
Most of the play was pretty bad, which means that those of us that usually get our money in good will have to dodge the suckouts. I also noticed a LOT of players that have no clue how to bet to protect their hand. As a result, my starting hand standards were VERY loose for about the first 60-70% of the tournament. I saw lots of limpers in almost every hand, and if I flopped ANYTHING, I was usually able to draw very cheaply. In one hand, I flopped middle pair with 8-9 on a board of K-8-2 rainbow. A player in early position bet 300 into a pot of 1800 with two more callers in front of me. So of course I call, and of course I catch trips on the turn. I end up busting one player, who proceeds to berate me for calling with 2nd pair, weak kicker on the flop. I just smile and say "Yeah, I got really lucky". |

Thanks for the offer David. My birthday is around then and I will be either drunk or hungover during most of the Sunday-Tuesday time period. Win a Wednesday or Thursday chip and I'll be very happy to trade. |

Nah. I saw what Social Security is going to pay me, and it's not enough to live on. I'd rather go out in flames than die slowly from bed sores caused by constantly shitting my pants. |

Oooh gravy!
(I'm desperately trying to not have a gravy belly, but it's fucking hard to lose weight when you are as fat as me.) |
