we have a young guy working here. he's hispanic. good kid. not a punk or anything. i asked him the other day who he was voting for.

him: probably obama.

me: ok...why is that?

him: ......................cause i'm a minority.

me: so do you agree with what he stands for?

him: oh, i don't really know anything about it.

me: huh. really?

it drives me crazy that people are so gung ho about electing the next leader of the free world on the exemplary qualifications and principals of..................being a minority.

go here and look at the lower right hand corner at some of the numbers. it absurd. i don't care who you vote for, but at least know what you're voting for

You're saying that as a white male. I think your opinion would be different if the shoe were on the other foot.

It wouldn't make it right if it were a ridiculous candidate like Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton but, with a viable candidate, I don't have a problem with minorities making it their deciding factor.

why is that?

i would like to think that regardless of my race, i would have the intelligence and rationale to make my decision based on the plans and principals of the candidates, not the color of their skin.

First off, the plans and principles of both candidates are just lip service to help get them elected. I think it's crazy to think that our taxes are going to go down, yet both of them are making this bold claim.

As far as race goes, I think that if you were a member of a group that was oppressed during your whole existence in this country and the common theme was the race of your oppressors, you might react positively to the first decent candidate that shares your race.

I'm pretty sure there are more than 105 black people in the U.S. Not positive though.
