i won't pretend that i haven't had a good run in the mcpoty series over the last couple of years. but it drives me fucking crazy when i can get close enough to taste it and then fall short.
making a final table and not being able to take it down is 10 times more aggrivating than if i was the first out. and it will stay with me until the next one.
it's a little easier when you lose to a worthy adversary...there are plenty as good if not much better than I. but when you lose to someone you could have....and should have beat, it's just a thorn in you side that won't go away.
i should be happy with the success i've had....but i'm not. i don't really think i'm greedy....just insatiable. and now i can't wait to get back on a table because i feel like i need to redeem myself.
i won't sleep well tonight....just dumb |

| When you said you were bringing a friend, I almost mentioned that I hoped it wasn't Keith. I assume he won and you took 2nd? |

| I will say that I have never been so burnt leaving a tournament, after taking several beats from Keith. |

Well, now, looking at Scott's signature, I'm guessing he got 3rd.
Unofficial results:
1 Keith
2 Ray
3 Scott
4 Glenn
5 Steve
6 Tom
27 Neko |

When I left, Ray, Scott and Keith were left and Keith had the bigstack, but was not unbeatable, although he seemed to hit every flop which doesn't hurt when you play every hand.
Tommy - 6th
BBLWOG - 5th
Steve S - 4th |

Yeah I went out in second. I wasn't too far off from Keith when the hand that doomed me hit.
Keith basically min raises me, and I call with 10 10 J Q with J 10 of clubs. The flop is all clubs, with Q 9 7 (or something like that). Keith bets out with a pot size bet, and I pot it which puts me all in, and Keith insta-calls. He turns over Q9. So I have a flush, open ended str8 flush draw. He has two pair and is drawing to 2 9's or 1 more Q. blank on the turn and Q on the river.
It was pretty lucky of Keith, and I had been picking my spots with him because he overplays too many hands in my opinion. He caught on that hand. Now I will not bitch at all cause I hit a miracle runner runner to stay in the game when there was like 4-5 left. |

I am the last person to question starting hand selection in PLO8. So can someone tell me if T-T-J-Q is considered a decent starting hand in PLO8? Seems like its not typically a good hand with a full table?
(I understand this was heads up and you are playing the player and not the cards so much at this point, but I was wondering because I saw a lot of people playing hands and calling raises that I instamucked) |

It's a good hand for Omaha Hi, but not so great for PLO8. In PLO8, for most of the tournament, you want hands to play where you can scoop the whole pot. So something that can get you the high and lo pot.
However, PLO8 changes a lot when you get to just a few people left in the tournament. |

there was 345k chips in play last night. when we were 4 handed, i had less 9k. keith had come to the final 9 with roughly half the chips in play.
by the time it got down to keith, ray and I, we had both done some damage to his stack. i think i got up to around 90k at one point, not sure how far ray got up. problem was, it seem like that the majority of the time that i got a hand, i wasn't able to hit any at all. there were a few times that i got it in good, only to have keith back into some runner, runner low. it was unreal how many times the cards bailed him out last night.
what really aggrivates me is that keith is a smart guy and could easily be a pretty good cardplayer if he would just use a little common sense. it's not as if he sucks at math and doesn't understand the numbers. he just chooses to ignore them and then tries to justify drawing for his three outers. i've know him for a few years now and played a lot of cards with him, and i don't know that i've ever heard him say "yeah, i made a bad play and just got lucky" he will attempt to justify every play.
i think the problem is that he has made some money in past. but what i've seen personally is that they are mostly manufactured wins as far as cash games are concern. he just keeps buying in and buying in and calling every big pot until eventually he hits one or two.
and pretty much everyone that knows keith has the same impression that you guys do as far as how he plays cards.....and everyone tells him. he just refuses to listen.
keith is a really good guy, just not a good cardplayer in my opinion. so i hope no one holds that against. it's not that he is inherently bad, he just chooses to play badly. that's the worst part....the willingness to do so. i would like to see him change, but he has never shown a desire to. it is what it is. |

| It normally doesn't bother me when someone plays bad and sucks out on me. His play drove me insane, because he was consistently telling me how I should have played a hand. |

Ditto, but it's cool. I think he was a very nice guy, and have no problem playing against him again in the future. |
