Starts at 11:00 on Saturday. $200+25, I believe, although I'm not certain since I'm blocked from the casino website at work.

With that said, I know Thomas indicated in making a shreveport trip this weekend, which bailed.

Has anyone ever played in this tourney? Is it worth a shit? Does anyone want to go Saturday?

It's decent. Usually 40-50 players. Don't be shocked when they run the tournament using a digital kitchen timer - they don't have a tournament clock. The blinds go bananas after the first four hours or so - it will be over soon after that.

well...
ya, they DO have a tourney clock.
They usually put it up on the flat screen in the
back corner behind table #15.
But Dave does still carry the timer with him
during the tourney.

That's a new development. I played this event this Spring - April & May, I think - and Dave told me that they didn't have a clock.

Dave does a good job running the thing. But when he takes a break and the inmates are in charge, good luck getting a correct floor ruling.

I played in the July 25K free roll. They had been using it for the daily
tourneys for a couple of months. They must have got right after the last
time you were there.

so i was not impressed by the way they ran things....

my two biggest gripes are:

1. put the number of people in the tournament and the number left on the freaking tournament clock.... it has that feature for a reason... not so that every time i look at it it says 0 entries and 0 remaining. great where is my first place winnings if that is the case.

2. they never announced the payouts... they didn't put them on the screen instead the screen read that no one was getting paid. I asked with 2 tables left and 11 people what the payouts where and the guy told me i didnt need to worry about it yet.... really? that is for me to decide. not you. he then told me that it started paying out at 6... but not what the payouts where . then we get to the final table and everyone is asking and the guy gets an attitude like he is being put out to tell everyone... and he mumbles the pay outs... so i can just remember what the 6th place person gets etc... so then as each player is eliminated i ask repeatedly what the next spot pays and he always acts pissed. well guess what tard if you would just post the fucking payouts like any respectable place you wouldn't be asked repeatedly.....

for those that dont read the blog etc... i ended up chopping first.

Good job T3.

How many players total?

I played that tournament a couple of times, and several players told me that they ALWAYS chop. I made the final table once, severly short-stacked, and everyone immediately agreed to an even 10-way chop for about $1,000 each. So of course I agreed.

But if I were in your position (big stack), I would have disagreed too.

54 total players.
ya if i was short stacked i would have agreed in a hurry....

I am for chopping if it makes sense.i just don't necessarily agree to chopping cause i want to be nice... this to me is about making money, not about giving it away.

First off, congrats Tommy on the win. It worked out a lot differently than I expected after our first table together. Tommy did a hell of a job, got lucky once or twice, but otherwise played great cards.

I, on the other hand, got into a position I should have got out of, but couldn't which pretty much ended my day.

First off I had AK broke by A7 and KQ. A7 was brutal, the guy was all in preflop and I called with AK, flop comes AT4, turns 7, rivers 7. I announce to the table "Wow man, not only did you put that A7 in my ass, I didn't even get a reach around" Big laughs all the way around.

The guy next to me was pretty solid but was over valuing pocket pairs. I saw him play 7's, 2's, and T's pretty hard. I'm UTG, blinds at 200/400, and look down to AK. I make it 1200 to go, guy on my left calls, and guy at the other end raises to 3800, but only has 1400 left behind. It comes around to me, SB and BB fold. I look down at him, look at my stack, I've got close to 20K by this point in time. And only call his 3600 raise. The guy to my left looks down at his stack, calls the 3600 and puts 5K on top. Well he's only got about 3K more, so I push him all in. He turns over KK. I figured he had J's or Q's, but not K's. The raiser at the end turns over AJ off.

Flop: T 9 7
Turn: 4
River: 8

AJ triples up, I pay off the K's and have about 9K left. Not nearly enough. I pick up a few pots and we break down to two tables. I sit down opposite end of Tommy again and I'm a low stack, probably 6th out of 9 at the table. Really don't see much of anything, and Tommy raises my big blind every time, trying to pick up what's left of my dwindling stack.

Last hand before the break, I look down to AJ of hearts. UTG min raises and I move all in, table folds around to the raiser he says "sorry man, I've got to call." AA, and I'm out of the tourney.

Cash game for 2 hours proved to be profitable to the tune of $13.
