Good luck. I don't know anything about the poker there, but the hotel is supposed to be just like the Horseshoe in Shreveport (nice hotel/casino for a shitty town).

ceasars was sold to the horseshoe..

so its a pretty nice boat..

the buffet is worse than the buffet at winstar.

the poker room has nice woodwork and such... i would guess close to 30 tables...they actually had BlackJack tables down there as well(off to the side) but no one was playing in them... i could see that being useful if the wife was along for the trip and wanted to play BlackJack while you played poker...

the tables where larger than normal....made for lots of room but also made the dealer have to stretch alot etc to collect chips..

i would equate the clientele to the same people that go to shreveport...

Actually, Harrah's owns it and just converted it to a Horseshoe last year. Same owners.

oh also ... at the NL tables they take $6 per half hour... instead of a traditional rake of the pot...

at the limit games they rake it regular...

this is the first tiem i have played and paid an hourly fee.... ( instead of rake that i can remember)

as far as clientele... ya white trash and the really fat black girls with like size 97 asses... they must get those jeans custom made...

as far as how i did at poker ... see other thread in hidden forum...

p.s. Love how the poker room's page on the web site says "It's time you got in on the poker craze that's sweeping the nation."

So 2004.

Last time I was at Harrah's in New Orleans that were taking a time charge too - I belive it was $6 per half-hour also. IMO if you play a lot of pots (like you and I do), this is actually a lot better deal than losing $5 per pot. If you are a really tight player, you are probably getting the worst of it in a time charge situation.

Ya, last time I was in NO they did the same thing.

And I kinda liked the $6 hourly charge rather than rake. But a super tight player will probably dislike it. And a slow dealer would make it suck too.

one thing that did happen was that 2 player would get up and leave right before the dealer change... then come back a few hands later...
once ok... twice give me a break ... three times go fuck yourself.

I said something when the people got up the third time ... I told the dealer to tell the floor that we had two empty seats ... he did and in a few minutes they were filled. he also said that if those two came back that he would charge them.

i understand that people are just trying to be cheap etc... but in reality if i have to pay they should have to pay...

In New Orleans the dealer would sorta "prorate" the time charge if a player wasn't at the table when the dealer pushed. I don't think there was a real system for calculating it - it seemed like the dealer just pulled amounts out of their ass - "You owe me $4" when the player came back.
